This month I am celebrating 7 years in private practice.
I started my career as a counsellor in 2006 within the safety of a large counselling and training charity. I am delighted that I continue to be part of that organisation where I provide counselling one day a week.
In 2011 I stepped outside the security of an organisation to start my private practice. Over the last seven years I have organised all aspects of my work, finding premises, getting insurance, learning about marketing and many others things. There have been some running-your-own-business challenges along the way, but it has always felt worthwhile. It is worthwhile because of the people I see. The courageous people who come to counselling to address their difficulties and who work towards making positive changes in their lives. I feel privileged to be part of their journeys. Here’s to the next 7 years!
